Call for Participation: feedback session on 'Policy Prototyping the AI Act: Human Oversight' Project
30.09.2024
The Knowledge Centre Data & Society invites you to contribute to our ongoing project, 'Policy Prototyping the AI Act: Human Oversight'. We are particularly seeking input from technical professionals and experts in AI and the EU AI Act to participate in an upcoming feedback session.
The project kicked off with a workshop on 4 September, where a team of 14 interdisciplinary professionals diligently crafted prototypes of human oversight measures under article 14 AI Act, based on three use cases. We are now looking for interested parties to study one or more prototypes, test them against the obligations in the AI Act and provide feedback.
Project Overview: The project’s current focus is on the human oversight obligations outlined in the EU AI Act, specifically in Article 14. In essence, human oversight measures are intended to allow human operators to oversee the system's functioning and minimise operational risks. The goals of this project are to:
- Examine and assess the human oversight requirements in detail;
- Create operational documents that include prototype decision support processes and prototype instructions/measures for human oversight;
- Collect feedback on these human oversight requirements and their applicability.
Feedback Gathering: Your insights are essential to advance this work. You can participate in one of the following feedback sessions (1h):
- In person in Brussels on Thursday 17 October 2024 (between 09.00 - 15.30h) or Tuesday 22 October 2024 (between 09.00 - 15.30h).
- or online through an individual video call organised on (Monday 28 October 2024, between 09.00 - 15.30h or Tuesday 5 November 2024 between 09.00 - 15.30h).
You will receive the prototypes for review as well as the feedback questions beforehand. Copies of the prototypes and questions will also be available at the in-person feedback sessions.
Why Participate? By participating, you contribute to an ambitious project which seeks to take a key element of the AI Act out of its theoretical framework and translate it into practice. The prototypes can serve as examples for professionals and experts who will eventually have to work with the AI Act. Your feedback and insights will be aggregated and form the basis of a report containing both best practices as well as policy recommendations. This report will be shared with policymakers and stakeholder organisations in the future

We look forward to your participation.
