In this paper, Martin Ebers (University of Tartu) addresses the question whether we can expect effective enforcement of the forthcoming Artificial Intelligence Act (AIA). The article criticizes that this is currently not the case and suggests possible solutions. This paper is written during Ebers' fellowship at the Knowledge Centre Data & Society - CiTiP KU Leuven in May 2022.
